The QR of domino tiles

NewZIPPNGFree18 October 2026

Tap the code and the dark modules pair up into domino tiles standing on the card; from where you tapped a chain reaction starts and the tiles topple one onto the next, each with its shadow and a small bounce. Tap again and they stand back up in reverse, lie down softly and the code to scan returns.

The flat code always scans: it is a standard QR (error correction level M), tested with a phone camera. Before you print a thousand, scan it once.

What you can choose

Path
Snake, Spiral, Wave
Tiles
Ebony, Ivory, Red lacquer, Baize green

How to use it

  • Type the address

Put the link to your site, a menu, a profile or just some text in the field and press Build. The code rearranges itself around the new address.

  • Watch it transform

Tap the code: it steps into its style, and you change it with the choices below. Tap it again and it lies flat, ready to scan.

  • Download the animation

The zip is the whole animation with your link and your colours: three files for your site, with the values to change at the top of the code, plus the PNG of the flat code (about 2000 pixels) for print. The zip needs a free account, the PNG alone does not.

How it’s made

  • The pairs

The dark modules pair up along the chosen path, so almost every tile is two modules long like a real one; the modules left alone become half tiles.

  • The chain

Each tile starts with the push of the one before, speeds up, hits the table, bounces back a few degrees and settles; under the fallen tiles the dark gaps stay, as between real tiles touching.

  • The incised pips

The pips are dark hollows with just a thread of light on their rim, drawn in fake perspective on a 2D canvas, with the camera tilting and turning a little around the table.
